heartfelt effort from every team member with only 2 goals allowed the entire

Gilbert Arsenal Premiere, shutting them out 2-0 and proving they can compete
with the best.
95 Elite Girls Take First and
Second in Christmas Angel
December 2008 - The 95 Elite Girls Red and Black teams put on another
powerful performance in the Kohl’s Christmas Angel tournament to take first
and second place in the same bracket. The 95 Elite Red dominated winning all

obtaining the maximum 40 points. The 95 Elite Black also had a strong
showing and only lost one game which of course was to their own Red team.
These two teams have racked up a lot of tournament
medals between them in season 1 and both won their respective divisions
undefeated. As season 2 gets underway, expect to see a lot more from these
teams.
2000 Desert Elite Boys Do It Again!
December 2008 - The 2000 Elite Boys took 1st place in the
Christmas Angels Tournament in a very exciting way. According to Coach
Thomas, he “is very happy with the team’s progress & was thrilled the way
the boys are responding in practices & games. They showed real
character & heart to come from three goals down to win 5 – 4 against CCV.
This gives them the confidence to build on their development as young
athletes & strive for more success. The coaches are very proud & look
forward to a great 2009. Also there for every game was Coach Enda who
took the boys to their big win in game four. This makes 11 wins in a
row for these young champions. A big thank you to both Coach Thomas &
Coach Enda from all of us, and an even bigger congratulations to the boys
for a job well done.
Desert Elite Teams Rise to the Top at Kick for
the Cure Tournament
November 2008 - The Desert Foothills Soccer
Club showed it’s tenacity at the Kick for the Cure Soccer Tournament held
November 15th & 16th.
Four Desert Elite teams took home the Championship.
The 96 Boys Red, with
Coach Rick, scored an amazing 29 goals in four games, including a 5-1
victory in the championship game.
Next, in a nail-biter of an ending, the
99 Girls Red, led by Coach Noel,
were down 2-1 at halftime and came back to win 3-2 in the final. These girls
scored 13 goals over the weekend.
The 99 Boys Red Team and
Coach Steve were not to be left behind their sister team of the same age,
coming back to avenge an earlier tournament loss in bracket play and win the
final 3-2. Finally, the
00 Boys Red Team, led by Coach Thomas, won the championship after
two overtime periods then a shoot-out.
The Penalty Kicks totaled 4-2 and these boys were thrilled!
Their goal was to win this tournament
undefeated and that is exactly what they did!!
Two other Desert Elite teams finished in a close second, the
98 Girls White and the
98 Boys Red!!
Congratulations to all players and coaches for promoting our club’s
success. GO ELITE!!
99 Desert Elite
Red Girls – Open League Fall Season and Kick for the Cure Champions
November 2008 – Desert Elite has a new rising star. The 99 Elite Girls Red
team is on a 9 game winning streak. Undefeated as the fall season is coming
to an end, you need to keep an eye on this amazing team.
In
addition to leading their division, the girls brought home championship
medals from the Kick for the Cure Tournament. In a nail-biter of an ending,
the girls were down 2-1 at halftime when these young athletes demonstrated
they simply don’t know how to accept defeat. They dug deep and came back to
win 3-2 in the final game. They scored an amazing 13 goals in the four
tournament games.
Coach Noel is so proud of our up-and-coming team!

to retain the title
that they won last year. On the way to victory the team scored 14
goals and conceded only one. Down 1-0 in the final the girls showed a
“never say die attitude” and ended up winning comfortably with a 3-1 score
line. Coach Noel was very proud
to lift the Cup for the second year on the trot - Congratulations Girls !!!
00 Desert Elite Red
Boys -
Champions in the Kick for the Cure Tournament
November 2008 – The 00 Desert Elite Red boys went undefeated into the Final
game of the Kick for the Cure Tournament against a team that they had only
previously tied during the regular season. It was a well played game,
and after two periods the score stood at 2 -2. The first &
second overtime periods came & went with no scoring for either team.
When the teams lined up to begin the penalty kicks the Elite boys were
determined not leave without a first place metal. After winning that
final goal these boys realized all of that hard work with Coach Thomas &
Coach Enda had paid off! As Coach Thomas said “the boys showed heart
and desire for victory and held their nerve in the final to pull through on
PK's.” So watch out, these young champions are here to stay!
96 Desert Elite
Girls - Champions in the Sereno Pro Classic
October 2008 – In a stellar performance, the Elite girls won the U13 silver
division of the Sereno Pro Classic. Scoring 12 goals in four games and only
allowing 1 against, the girls proved Elite is the U13 team to beat. Coach
Thomas has been working with the girls on set plays and position-specific
maneuvers. The specialized practice and hard work has certainly paid off.
These young athletes moved the ball incredibly well, worked as a team and
showed excellent sportsmanship as they came out on top to beat SC del Sol in
the championship game.
Congratulations ladies. Wear your medals with pride.
97 Desert Elite Girls Soccer Wins the 2008 Arizona Inaugural Cup Tournament
September 2008 - The 97 Desert Elite girls soccer team won the U12 division
of the 2nd annual Arizona Inaugural Cup Tournament that was recently held at
the Reach 11 soccer complex in Phoenix. This tournament brought out many
local teams looking for early season matches in
preparation for the upcoming Arizona State Cup Competitive league.
The girls had something to prove to start the 2008 season after finishing
fourth in the standings in the 2007 season. In their first match, Desert
Elite played Anthem. The game was a tight one with Desert Elite coming
through with a second half goal to win the game
1–0. In game two, again, they played a very tough Banat Soccer Club
and again scored a second half goal pulling out a 1-0 victory.
Desert Elite was one win away from the title. Standing in
their way was the Gilbert Soccer Club. Gilbert came into the game with one
win and one tie. A win or a tie against Gilbert would give Desert Elite the
championship. It was quite a game with both teams getting off numerous shots
on goal. As with the previous games, the Desert Elite goaltending stayed
strong with the game finishing in a 0-0 tie.
“The girls did not give up and played hard to earn this championship” said
coach Noel Clarkson. “I am proud of their effort and how they have gotten
this season off to a great start..”
95 Girls Desert Elite Girls Teams Sweep Inaugural
Cup
September 2008 - It was a sweet start to the new season for the two 95 Girls
Desert Elite girls teams as they both won First Place in their respective
divisions of the Inaugural Cup Tournament at Reach 11 on Sep. 5-6.
The 95G Elite Red won the Gold Division winning all three of their
games and racking up a staggering 20 goals in the process.
At the same time the 95G Elite Black
won the Silver Division also finishing undefeated in their three games and
only conceding one goal. Way to go 95 Girls!
97 Desert Elite Boys
Achieve 2nd Place at Forest Cup in San Diego
August 2008 -
The 97 boys began their season on a high note by traveling to San Diego for
the Labor Day weekend and took second place in the Forest Cup tournament (Click
here to see a short video). The weekend was an incredible experience
from both the soccer perspective and the personal/team building perspective.
On the soccer field the competition was fierce and the boys had to pull from
their inner spirits to drive their bodies to compete in five games in three
days including 8:00am start times all weekend. The semi-final game was
amazing as the boys faced a defense that had not allowed a goal all
tournament and their determination allowed for a 3-2 victory. The
personal/team building activities made for an incredible Saturday at the
Wave House and Mission Beach. There were many fun-filled hours surfing the
Wave House waves, boogie-boarding, skim-boarding, body surfing, and a little
sand volleyball. Sunday afternoon proved to be just as much fun with dinner
on a yacht, tubing behind a speed boat, and jet-skiing across San Diego Bay.
These experiences will be remembered for a lifetime and will be a
springboard into the 2008/2009 competitive season.
Congratulations to Desert Elite State Tournament and League finishes for
2007-2008 Season
April 2008

95 Girls Elite Finish Season
Undefeated
March 2008 - The 95G Elite finished an awesome
season after winning Fight 2 of the VYSL both Season 1
and Season 2 undefeated. This accomplishment was all the more amazing due to
the fact that the team was new at the beginning of the season made up of a
combination of players who had played on competitive, developmental and
recreational teams. After
completing their double flight win, the 95G Elite went into the Open Cup and
tied all 3 of their games in a bracket consisting of strong Flight 1 teams.
The ties were disappointing since the 95G Elite controlled all three games
and were easily one of the best teams in the bracket and, despite remaining
undefeated, they were eliminated on points. Other major accomplishments for
the season included 2nd place in the Ring of Fire tournament in a
U14 bracket and 3rd in the Fort Lowell Shootout and winning first
place in 3 out of the 4 competitions in the soccer Olympics in Tucson.
Congrats ladies on a great season!
