90 Desert Elite Girls, Champions of the Las Vegas
Premier Invitational
March 2007 - Congratulations to the 90 Desert Elite ladies for
winning the U17 bracket of the Las Vegas Premier Invitational (March 30-April
1), defeating the defending Utah State champion Utah Avalanche 3-2 on PKs in
the Final. The 90s won four straight against excellent teams from southern
California, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. The defense was outstanding, not
yielding a single goal until the final. This was an high-caliber tournament
championship that featured teams from all over the western U.S.
Congratulations again to Coach Tamera and the ladies for a superb performance!
97 Elite Girls Take Second
in Arizona Open Cup State Tournament
March 2007 - With a record of 3 wins-2 ties-1
loss,
97 Desert Elite Girls took
2nd place in the Arizona Open Cup State Tournament. This was quite
an accomplishment for the team as it was not only their first experience
playing 11 aside, but the girls played up a level for several of their 6
games. Their only loss was the championship game against
Sereno 97 White, which resulted in the second place title. Although the
girls did not win that game, they were the only team all tournament to score a
goal on the tough competitors. The girls did a tremendous job along with their
terrific coaches. Congratulations ladies !!
97 Elite Boys Take Gold
March 2007 - Congratulations to
the 97 Desert Elite Boys, coached by Thomas
Anderson. They took Gold in the San Tan Ostrich Festival tournament. Three
teams in the bracket tied in pool play with 1 loss, but the boys made the
championship on tiebreakers. In the final game they jumped to an early 1-0
lead and held on for a hard fought 2-1 victory. It was their last game ever
playing 8v8 and a positive way to end the season. Good luck boys moving on to
11v11 !
96 Boys Elite
Red Win at the SC del Sol Desert Classic
February 2007 –
Congratulation to the 96 Boys Elite Red for winning the SC del Sol
Desert Classic Silver division. The boys were 3-0 in bracket play scoring 15
goals while only allowing 2 and generated close to maximum points.
In the final they met 96 Sereno Blue and came out on top with a 3-0
victory. Great job boys!
94 Elite Girls Win
Their Third Tournament!
January 2007 - Our 94 Elite Girls went to Las Vegas to play in
the Silver State
Invitational. They played two strong games on Saturday and generated
close to maximum points. Add to this the win on Sunday morning and they had
enough points to face California's Carlsbad in the final. Both teams were
closely matched and failed to score, even in overtime! Elite's goalie had her
time to shine in the deciding shootout and saved the day with an outstanding
performance.
