96 Desert Elite Boys
are Ring of Fire Champions
(February 2005)
The 96 Desert Elite Boys took first place in the U9 Silver
Division of the Ring of Fire Tournament. The boys played strong
defensively all weekend not allowing a goal in regulation in any of their
four matches. They met the 96 Tempe Pros in the final and played to a 0-0
tie. In penalty kicks the boys outscored the Pro's 3-1 to capture the
title.
94 Desert Elite Boys Win Silver State Tournament
(January 2005)
On January 30, the Desert Foothills 94 Desert Elite traveled
north for its first out of state tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada. The
Under-11 Boys played sound defensive soccer outscoring their opponents
from Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona 6-2 in 4 games including a 2-1 overtime
victory in the championship match! The 94 Elite will participate in
Arizona's State Cup beginning March 18.
95 Desert Fire Girls Win Christmas
Angel
Tournament - Dancer Division
(December 2004)
The 95 Desert Fire girls had four shutout
victories, including the championship game, to win the U10G Dancer
Division of the Christmas Angel Tournament. They outscored their
opponents 7-0 in four games over the weekend. Three of the four games were
played in muddy, rainy and cold weather conditions...just like a soccer
game should be !
94 Desert Elite Girls Win
Shootout to Become Champions at CISCO Tournament
(October 2004)
The 94 Desert Elite girls had three shutout
victories and won the championship game in a shootout to capture the U11G
Championship at the CISCO Tournament. They outscored their opponents 14-2
in four games over the weekend.
95 Desert Elite Red take 2nd Place in Soccer at the Summit
(October 2004)
95 Desert Elite Red won their first three games outscoring the opponents,
24-1. The final game with Juventus Premier was very well-played by both
teams but the 95 Desert Elite Red Girls lost 0-2. The players
demonstrated how well-trained they are playing in challenging conditions
including a starting temperature of 29 degrees and playing at 8000' in
elevation and never struggling in a game.
95 Desert Elite Black Girls are
OktoberFest Champions!
(October 2004)
Courage, hustle, and
perseverance paid off for the 95 Desert Elite Black Girls, as they won all
4 of their games at the OktoberFest tournament and took home the gold. All
of the games were close, but none more so than the championship game
Sunday afternoon. The 95 Elite Black and the Arizona Soccer Club Thunder
Gold battled to a 1-1 tie after regulation play ended, but the Elite girls
scored first in the Golden Goal overtime period to take the victory. From
keeper to attacker, this was truly a team effort, and the girls richly
deserve their gold medals.
92 Desert Elite Boys are
Sun Devil Fall Classic Champions
(September 2004)
The 92 Desert Elite Boys took First Place in the U13B Gold Division of the 2004
Sun Devil Fall Classic.
The boys had a strong offensive weekend outscoring their opponents 14
goals to 4. The team thought they had the championship game in their
reach when the Mesa United 92 scored on a cornerkick to tie it up in the
final 30 seconds of regulation. The Elite fought back to put the
game away in the first 4 minutes of OT.
92 Desert Elite Boys are
Ostrich Cup Champions
(March 2004)
The 92 Desert Elite Boys took First Place in the U12B Gold Division of the 2004 Ostrich Cup.
After defeating the Cisco Interamerica 6-2, they drew with the San Tan
Scorpions 2-2. They returned the next day to defeat the Atlas 4-0
and repeated that score in the Championship game against the Cisco
Interamerica.
Desert Foothills Announces
Rick Tilmans as Director of Coaching
(February 2004)
The Desert Foothills Athletic Club (DFAC) has responded to the demand of
youth soccer interest in the north valley, which resulted in a 50% growth
of the Desert Elite Soccer Program this past season. DFAC is pleased to
announce Rick Tilmans as the new Director of Coaching and Training. Rick
brings with him the experience and credentials to lead the Desert Elite
program, which is expected to swell to over 20 competitive and
developmental youth soccer teams, ages 8 – 18, in the 2004-2005 season.
Rick brings a high intensity skills training methodology and the ability
to teach players the underlying values of DFAC’s program, including
teamwork, sportsmanship, and enjoyment of the sport of soccer! Please
congratulate Rick when you see him around the field.
88 Desert Elite Boys and 94
Desert Fire Boys take First Place in Ring of Fire
(February 2004)
Congratulations to the 88
Desert Elite Boys for a strong finish in the U16B Silver
Bracket at the Ring of Fire Tournament. The boys were relentless in their
last 2 games outscoring their opponents 10-0, including a 5-0 victory in
the championship game over the AFSC Pumas. The 94 Desert Fire
Boys ended thier season on a high note with their first
tournament victory in the U10B Bronze Division. They had three shutout
victories on bracket play, and went on to defeat the USA Roadrunners in
the championship game 3-1.
94 Desert Elite Girls Take Home the Gold in Desert
Classic Tourney
(February 2004)
The 94 Desert Elite Girls overcame a first game loss to become champions
of the U10F Gold Division in the Desert Classic Soccer Tournament. After a
loss to the AFSC Blizzard, 0-1, the Elite girls were victorious over the
MMRSC Pride and the ASUSC 94 Blackhawks, followed by a draw with AZFC 94
Hammers, to claim victory on points. The Gold Flight in the tourney
included 4 of the 5 teams from the highly competitive Flight 1 in the
Valley Youth Soccer League.
90 Desert Elite Girls
and 93 Desert Elite Boys are Champions in Fort Lowell Shootout
(January 2004)
Congratulations to the 90
Desert Elite Girls for going undefeated in the U14G Silver
Bracket at the Fort Lowell Shootout. Their tournament victory included
four straight shutout wins, scoring 7 goals and allowing zero by their
opponents. They completed their weekend with a 2-0 shutout victory of the
Fort Lowell Select 90. The 93 Desert Elite Boys were
also victorious in the U11B Gold Bracket, with three shutout victories.
Included was the 2-0 championship victory over the Foothills Futbol Club
93 Blue team. They outscored their opponents 8 to 1 on the weekend.
Great job by both teams !!

Desert Elite Boys Champions in San Tan Tourney
(December 2003)
The 91 Desert
Elite Boys went undefeated in the U13B Gold Division of the San
Tan Holiday Classic Tournament to win their second tournament in a row.
The boys defeated both the Las Cruces 91 United from New Mexico and the 92
Sereno Golden Eagles, than tied
the 92 State Champion Tempe Pros in the final seconds of their last game
to claim the championship on points.

Elite Girls and 95 Desert Elite Girls Champions in Christmas Angel
Tournament
(December 2003)
Congratulations to the
95 Desert Elite Girls for winning their first
tournament! It was an exciting weekend for DFAC U9Gs teams as the
95 Desert Elite Girls went undefeated in four games, outscoring
their opponents 18-3, and the 95 Desert Fire Girls
claimed third. The
94 Desert Elite Girls continued their winning ways by also going
undefeated in four games to win the U10Gs "A" Division. This was their
third tournament victory of the season! On the boys side, the
91 Desert Elite Boys won four straight games in the U13/14
Division, with an impressive offensive performance of 17 GF and 1 GA, to
claim their championship.

Desert Elite Boys Take 2nd in the Tempe Elite Tournament
(November 2003)
The 92 Desert Elite Boys went undefeated in bracket play in the
Tempe Elite Thanksgiving Day Tournament in the U12B Gold Division. It was
a weekend of great soccer as the boys went against the Scottsdale Thunder
and Albuquerque United, only to loose to the State Champion 92 Tempe Pros
in the Championship game, 0-2.

Elite Boys, 94 Desert Elite Girls, and the 90 Elite Girls Champions in
Kick for the Cure
(October 2003)
Congratulations to the
94 Desert Elite Boys for winning their second tournament in a row! These
championships include 8 straight wins! The 90 Desert Elite Girls also
were victorious in their second consecutive tournament, out scoring their
opponents 27 - 1 in 8 games. The 94 Desert Elite Girls took revenge on
the SC Del Sol Sharpshooters who they had tied 1-1 in a preliminary, but
went on to win the championship game 1-0.
Desert Elite Teams Set the Pace in Oktoberfest Tournament; 94 Desert Elite
Boys, 92 Desert Elite Girls and 90 Desert Elite Girls are Champions
(October 2003)
A total of seven Desert Elite teams placed in the
Oktoberfest Tournament, showing what Desert Elite soccer is all about.
The 94 Desert Elite boys went undefeated in the U10B -
B division with an overtime victory over the 94 Blackhawk Red team, while
the 92 Desert Elite girls turned an earlier tournament
loss around in an overtime victory over the Madison Spitfires. The
90 Desert Elite girls were impressive winning all four
games by shutout to capture the U14G championship.
The 93 Desert Elite girls lost in
overtime, taking second place, in their second championship game in as
many tournaments. Also noteworthy, was the second place finish of the
91 Desert Elite boys, only loosing to an older U14 team
from Yavapai; the 94 Desert Elite girls who tied for
second in points, but took third on a tie breaker; and the third place
finish for the 95 Desert Elite boys.
94 Desert Elite (U10) and
93 Desert Elite (U11) Girls Capture 1st Place in Sun Devil Classic
(September 2003)
Both the 94 Desert Elite and the 93
Desert Elite girls teams began their season with a
first place finish in their brackets in the Sun Devil Fall Classic
Tournament. The 94 Elite had 14 GF and only 1 GA while winning all four
games in the U9/10G bracket. The 94 Elite went to the championship game
and avenged an earlier tournament loss to the Alliance, 2-1.
Also noteworthy, was the impressive showing of the 88
Desert Elite boys who finished second in the U16B. As well as, a
third place finish for the 94 Desert Elite boys and the
91 Desert Elite boys.

Desert Elite Boys Place in Dark Side of the Moon Tournament
(September 2003)
With games starting at 1am and 3am in the morning, the 88 Desert
Elite (U16) Boys managed to stay alert in a high scoring offensive
battle to take 3rd place in the Dark Side of the Moon Tournament. They
outscored their opponents 17 -14, with three victories, only losing to an
older U18 team from Yavapai in the cross-bracket game.
Congratulations Players
(July 2003)
Congratulations to all players who were selected for the 2003-2004 Desert
Elite and Desert Fire teams. The Desert Elite
competitive/developmental program will consist of 17 teams competing among
the top teams across the state. Good luck on a successful season.
