94 Desert Elite Girls Win Another
Tourney!
December 2006 - Congratulations to the 94 Desert Elite Girls who played up and
won the U14G Bronze division at the San Tan Holiday Classic. A nail biting
penalty shoot out win over San Tan in the semifinals put the girls up against
friends and rivals at MMRSC in the final. A hard-won fight in extremely windy
Queen Creek produced a 2-0 win
and secured the first place trophy.
96 Elite Girls Champions
at San Tan Holiday Classic
December 2006 - Congratulations to the 96 Desert Elite
Girls team winning the San Tan Holiday Classic U11 Gold
bracket. The girls continue their unbeaten and scoreless streak too 11
games, allowing no goals through the tournament with great defensive play.
The semis were won on the 9th pk, and the finals were a nail-bitter with a
tie game until the 57th minute when midfielder Anika Brock slipped one past
the goalie. The girls were motivated by a wager that coach Tony Vos loose
his curly locks if they won. No one was more excited than trainer Tamera
Hatfield who at the end of the game pretended to cut his hair. Great Job
Girls!!
97 Girls
Desert Fire Win Kohl's Christmas Angel Tourney
December 2006 - The weekend of
December 2nd and 3rd the 97 Girls Fire team participated in the Kohl's
Christmas Angel Tournament and finished in first place for the U9/10 girls
division. They outscored their opponents 16-5. Congratulations ladies on a
job well done! They played strong and never gave up...way to go girls We're
proud of you!

Arizona ODP Team
June 2006 - Kendra Harrell-Vigil of the 90 Desert Elite Girls will be
participating with the 90 Arizona ODP Team. She will be training with
the team and participating in various tournaments this summer.
Sean Murray (93 Desert Elite Boys) is part of
the 92 Boys Arizona ODP Team. He also will be training and participating
this summer with the ODP team.

Maxi Viera Joins the
Desert Foothills Pro Training Staff
May 2006 - The Desert Foothills Athletic Club (DFAC) is pleased to announce
that Maxi Viera has joined their Pro Training Staff for the 2006-2007 soccer
season. Viera brings a wealth of soccer experience to DFAC’s Desert Elite
Program with over 16 years of professional playing experience, 8 years as a
club professional coach/trainer, and holds various coaching credentials. His
professional career includes teams in Uruguay, Greece, Chile and the MLS in
the United States. As a youth player, Maxi was a member of the Uruguay
National team at U18 – U20.
Desert Foothills Soccer
Host English Youth Soccer Team
April 2006 - The
Northampton School for Boys (NSB) under 13 youth soccer team traveled to the
valley during March 24- April 1, and were hosted by local families. This was
the second year of the cultural exchange program between NSB and DFSC which
all started when Craig Armstrong left his youth soccer coaching position with
DFSC in Northeast Phoenix to go back home to England three years ago. The
visiting team was officially hosted by the 93 Desert Elite boys team and
played several other competitive teams from the DFSC Desert Elite Program
including the 92 Desert Elite, and 94 Desert Elite, as well as, scheduling in
games with the 93 Golden Eagles White (Sereno Soccer Club). Off the field,
players exchanged cultural experiences, including schools, families, and
weather
VYSL Awards to 95
Desert Elite Girls and Noel Clarkson
April 2006 -Congratulation
the 95 Desert Elite Girls for winning the Girls Team of the
Year Award in the Valley Youth Soccer League (VYSL). In addition to this
achievement, the team finished the season ranked 5th/6th in State and ranked
1st in the State by GotSoccer in tournament play for the year. The VYSL Girls
Coach of the Year Award was presented to Noel Clarkson,
submitted by the 92 Desert Elite Girls.
Noel was also the primary coach for the 97 Desert Elite Girls, the 92 Desert
Elite Boys and the 88 Desert Elite Boys.
97 Desert Elite Girls Win Desert Classic U9 Flight 2
February 2006 - The 97 Desert Elite Girls won the Desert Classic U9
Flight 2 division. The girls had three shut outs and a tie to capture
their flight. Congratulations girls!
95 Desert Elite Girls Capture Championship at Sereno
Classic
January 2006 - Congratulations to the 95 Elite girls for winning
their 3rd tournament of the season with their first place finish in the Sereno
Classic. The girls scored 8 goals against their opponents and allowed 0
goals to be scored.
